According to new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided information indicating the inmate is working on the commutation application. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, stated in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for executive mercy.

Specific details of the clemency request are unknown, Raskin added.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a designated private space for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and chance of unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when communications failed for other inmates, she was provided directions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement indicates that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would provide them to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and return them to the official to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges reportedly provided to her include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told close associates in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, Maxwell was transferred from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, the official, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, Raskin also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with room service, with puppies to play with, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche appear for a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the transfer or special conditions in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by 24 November.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an appeal from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
