It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
